2024 Year End, Part 1

 


This is Part One of a two-part year-end report covering 2024 homicides, with supporting charts and data.

Part Two includes 2024 data and historical data going back to 2000, and concludes with a list of all homicide victims going back through 2000.

The Allen County Coroner has officially recorded 41 homicides in 2024. This number could change as current 2023 pending or open cases may subsequently be ruled as homicides. This was the case in 2023. If that occurs, this information will be updated.

Please remember 2024’s victims, presented in chronological order. Dates are provided from the published Coroner's office reports:

·        All information is provided by public news releases from the Allen County Coroner’s office and/or at least 2 confirmed media reports

·        For the sake of consistency and accuracy of the Remembering Fort Wayne Homicide Victims blog and database, homicide is defined by Indiana statute. In Indiana, homicide is defined as the killing of one person by another. The term is neutral and doesn't assign blame. Indiana's homicide statutes are in Title 35, Chapter 1 of the Indiana Code.

·        Remembering Fort Wayne Homicide Victims does not track suicides, however, in the case of a homicide/suicide, the Coroner’s release may name the suicide victim’s name, as is the Coroner’s protocol and legal, and statutory requirements as contained in Indiana Code, Section 36-2-14-18. In keeping with transparency, Remembering Fort Wayne Homicide Victims does not edit or redact information in the Cornoner’s releases.
