In recent years, many have observed a marked increase in homicides in years following the city's general election. I've been tracking homicides going back through 2010, and the trend seems more than a statistical anomaly.

Based on observed data from January 1, 2020, through the latest confirmed homicide on March 3, 2020, Fort Wayne (and Allen County) experiences a homicide every 6.9 days. If this trend continues, 2020 would see a total of 53 homicides.

I'll try to include this information each time this blog is updated.

Continued thanks to the Allen County Coroner's office for their transparency and updated information.
