June 21, 2024 Halfway Through 2024

Recently, a follower of this blog asked a few questions and had some interesting observations about this year (2024) compared to last year (2023). While an apples-to-apples comparison is impossible, since we're only 6 months into 2024, some trends indicate 2024 will not be a rerun of 2023.

On this date in 2023, there were 13 homicides. For this year (2024) the total is 18.

The Allen County Coroner has identified 83-year-old Rex D. Michel as the 15th homicide victim of 2024.

The release of this information was delayed, hence Rex D. Michel is listed as homicide # 15, while details on homicides 16 & 17 were released previously. Charts have been revised to reflect this homicide and are accurate through and including all 17 homicides to date.
